Under Request – Gackt Camui :P

gackt_61.jpg <– click on pic for a larger view

Gackt Camui was born in Okinawa, Japan, on July 4 (year unknown, although there is speculation he was born in the year 1973). He has an older sister and a younger brother. Although his mother’s vocation is unknown, Gackt has stated on more than one occasion that his father was a jazz musician that played the trumpet.

Gackt was a rambunctious child and enjoyed doing dangerous things. At seven years of age while swimming off the coast of Okinawa, he nearly drowned. After his near-death experience, Gackt claimed the ability to see the dead and speak with deceased family members. His family did not take it seriously but as three years passed, Gackt began to feel uncomfortable with the dismissive treatment and perceived himself as an outsider.

Contrary to popular belief, Gackt has not been institutionalized for claiming to possess a sixth sense. When he was ten, however, he collapsed and was hospitalized for an unknown gastrointestinal problem. According to his autobiography, he was isolated for an extensive amount of time in a pediatric ward of a hospital for extremely sick children. This was a very difficult time for him, as what few friends he had the opportunity to make died soon afterwards from terminal illnesses. He became mentally imbalanced and was denied release. Desperate to escape what he felt was a prison, Gackt imitated his doctors until he was released.

Wang Lee Hom

Alexander Lee-Hom Wang (Chinese: ็Ž‹ๅŠ›ๅฎ; pinyin: Wรกng Lรฌhรณng; born May 17, 1976; better known as Leehom Wang or Wang Leehom) is an American singer-songwriter of Taiwanese descent who has achieved success in Taiwan, Malaysia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Thailand and the rest of Southeast Asia.

Lee-hom Wang was born in Rochester, New York on 17 May 1976. He studied music at Williams College and the Berklee College of Music. Hailing from Williams College, a liberal arts college in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Wang furthered his education at Berklee with (Jazz Piano & Composition). He has become one of the many new songwriters and musicians revolutionizing the Chinese music industry. He is active in all areas of musical production, from composing to producing, to arranging pieces, to writing lyrics (although he did not learn to speak fluent Chinese until he was 18), to playing instrumental accompaniments, to directing his own music videos. Wang comes from a high pedigree of academics; his father is a pediatrician, his older brother, Leo (Lee-De) Wang was a student at Yale University and is presently a doctor residing in Chicago, his younger brother, Lee-Kai Wang is a student at MIT, and many of his relatives are doctors. Like much of his family, Wang had considered pursuing a medical career. However, at the last minute Wang realized his true passion was for music. Amidst criticism from his family, Wang decided to attend Williams College to pursue his dream to become a musician. Although this decision was unconventional, Wang was willing to take this risk and his choice has proven to be a wise one. By combining western music with classical Chinese instruments, Wang has given a unique twist to Chinese music. Having eleven Mandarin albums to his credit, Wang has yet to produce an English album but remains one of the main songwriters and producers for Sony BMG. He also owns two Homeboy Music Studios situated in Taiwan and New York. On his tenth album, Shangri-La, Wang incorporated the often unheard music of the minorities of China into a style he coined “chinked out”. He experimented with the tribal sounds of China, Tibet, and Mongolia, traveling the area carrying 15 kg of equipment while fighting bouts of altitude and food sickness. His next album will be released on 31 December 2005, and he has infused elements of Beijing opera into the songs, continuing the “chinked out” spirit. Not much about Wang’s personal life is known. Wang leehom’s cousin, Alex Zhaoliang Chang, is one of his best friends.

In 1995 while vacationing in Taiwan, Wang’s rich vocal and fresh appearance allowed him to sign a contract that sparked the beginning of his musical career. He later became the youngest Best Producer of the Year and Best Male Vocalist of the Golden Melody Awards in 1999.

Miller’s father is of African, Jamaican, English, German Jewish, and Cherokee descent, and his mother is of Russian, French, Dutch, Syrian, and Lebanese descent. In an interview, Miller said: “My father is black and my mother is white. Therefore, I could answer to either which kind of makes me a racial Lone Ranger, at times, caught between two communities.”

He was born in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England, where his father, a Rhodes Scholar, was studying. His family moved to Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York, when he was one. He has two sisters, who are both currently practicing law.

Miller’s first three years of high school were spent at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, where his nickname was “Stinky”. He then transferred to Quaker Valley Senior High School in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, where he graduated in 1990. In 1995, he graduated from Princeton University with a degree in English Literature. While at Princeton, he performed with the school’s a cappella group, The Princeton Tigertones.

Subsequently, he headed to Los Angeles, California, to pursue an acting career. He ended up spending years doing behind-the-scenes work to support himself before devoting himself seriously to auditioning for acting roles.

Miller’s first starring role was as the sensitive and introverted David in ABC’s mini-series Dinotopia. After appearing in a few minor television roles, he moved on to co-star in the film The Human Stain (2003), playing the younger version of Anthony Hopkins’ character.

Miller further increased his profile in 2005 by obtaining the starring role as Michael Scofield in Fox Network’s television drama, Prison Break. His performance in the show earned him a 2005 Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series.[7]

Also in 2005, Miller made appearances in the music videos of Mariah Carey’s “It’s Like That” and “We Belong Together” (consequently, Entertainment Weekly’s website named it the 2nd sexiest music video cameo of all-time). Both music videos were directed by Brett Ratner, who directed the series pilot of Prison Break. According to Brett Ratner on the DVD audio commentary for the “Pilot” episode of Prison Break, Wentworth Miller auditioned for the role of Superman/Clark Kent when the Superman Returns project was still under Ratner’s directorial control.
